Payne has a pre-existing enhanced warranty program available for certain 90% high-efficiency gas furnaces (models shown below) built from 1993 to 2011. Please reference the model and serial number table below to determine if you are eligible for this program.
Step 1: Is My Furnace Eligible for the Enhanced Warranty Program?
If your furnace was manufactured between 1993 and 2011 and is listed below, the enhanced warranty program may be available for you. This enhanced warranty covers the secondary heat exchanger (an internal component) upon failure within 20 years from the original furnace installation date.
Why Take Action? Failure of the secondary heat exchanger will lead to less efficient performance of the furnace over time.

Step 2: Understand the Enhanced Warranty Program Details
If you are eligible, the following options are available:
(1) a credit of up to $525 to be applied toward the purchase of a brand new, replacement Payne furnace.*; or
(2) replacement of the secondary heat exchanger in the original furnace with a brand new secondary heat exchanger utilizing the same design at no cost to you.**
*Credit available toward purchase of a qualifying Payne gas furnace; credit includes $200 toward equipment purchase and up to four hours of labor, for a total of up to $525.
**Payne will provide the parts (secondary heat exchanger, coupling box, and cold spot baffle) required for secondary heat exchanger replacement and a credit to dealers toward up to four hours of labor to make the repair. In making your selection, please note that well-maintained gas-fired furnaces can last approximately 20 years. If your unit is approaching the end of its lifespan, the secondary heat exchanger replacement will not extend the useful life of the complete furnace beyond 20 years from the original installation date. All other furnace repairs are subject to Payne’s standard limited warranty and may be subject to additional charges for parts or labor, such as repairs to the primary heat exchanger or other internal components.

Step 3: Select Your Option in the Enhanced Warranty Program

Important: Be sure to reference the code SMB 09-0024 when scheduling a visit or repair for this issue. There also may be other programs, incentives, or credits available to homeowners who purchase certain high-efficiency model furnaces, such as tax credit incentives through the recent Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. Speak with a Payne dealer for more information.
Take Care of Your Furnace
Proper installation by a trained technician, as well as annual service and maintenance, is critical to ensure the safe operation and efficiency of your furnace.
Your product manual states that it is essential that maintenance on your furnace be performed annually for continuing high performance and minimize possible failure. Other than basic maintenance functions, such as replacing air filters, all service and maintenance operations must be performed by trained service personnel. Contact a local distributor to find a dealer near you.
Payne continually monitors and evaluates the performance of its products to ensure its customers are experiencing the quality and safety they expect from a Payne product.
